WHY THIS TOPIC?
I chose this topic because stories of Hanuman, Ganesha, and those narrated by my grandfather have been a constant presence throughout my life. From watching animated cartoons of Hanuman’s adventures to hearing mythological tales at home, these characters shaped my imagination and became part of my growing years. They were not just stories, but lessons in courage, wit, and resilience—values that left a lasting imprint on me. By bringing them into this project, I wanted to honor those influences and translate the nostalgia of childhood storytelling into a contemporary creative expression.

RESEARCH
Before diving into the world of imagination, I grounded myself by reading numerous books on Indian mythology to ensure authenticity and depth in the way I portrayed each character. From scriptures to modern interpretations, these texts helped me understand not just the stories but also the symbolism, cultural nuances, and varied perspectives that surround them. This research became the foundation upon which I could confidently reimagine the characters—blending factual richness with creative freedom—so that the animation carried both credibility and a personal artistic voice.
During the process of this thesis I had made a mindmap to help me collect the data. This mindmap dealt with all the data including stories, characters and some interesting facts about these characters.

STORY BOARDING AND CHARACTER SHEETS:

Backdrop and Final Visuals

Challenge :
One of the biggest challenges in this project was striking the right balance between mythological accuracy and personal reinterpretation. Characters like Hanuman, Varaha, and Mahishasur carry deep cultural significance, and reimagining them required sensitivity to tradition while still allowing space for creative exploration. Another challenge lay in visual consistency—bringing together such diverse mythological figures alongside myself in one narrative world without losing coherence. Technical hurdles, from character animation to expressing symbolic depth through motion and design, also demanded multiple iterations. Yet, these challenges ultimately enriched the process, pushing me to blend research, creativity, and personal storytelling into a cohesive animated experience.
Summary :
This project was an exploration of how mythology, memory, and personal storytelling can come together through animation. By blending characters like Hanuman, Ganesha, Nav Gunjara, and others with my own presence, I reinterpreted timeless stories that shaped my childhood into a contemporary creative narrative. Grounded in research yet fueled by imagination, the work bridges cultural heritage with personal identity, showing how animation can transform mythological archetypes into living, relatable beings while preserving the emotional resonance of growing up with these tales.
